GoldPact Power - Free Power For Schools Program
FREE POWER FOR SCHOOLS

Our Mission for Schools: "To insure our youth have a chance at a rich education by providing Teachers with the salaries they deserve, the schools with the money they need to purchase classroom materials and maintain their schools in a safe condition and provide fund raising events that keep our children involved in the communities they will share and manage when they graduate."

To that end, Gold Pact Power provides Free Power for Schools" in cities that have enrolled in our Stable Power Prices for Cities program.

A tutorial available on a free CD or online explains the steps.

Why do schools need free power?

Gold Pact Power was originally founded by two youth center teachers who were both all too aware of the problems facing high school students:

"These kids just needed a chance at a well-rounded education." said Terrence Baxter, youth center counselor and GPP Vice President, shown at right with the First Lady of California, Maria Shriver. "The inner-city schools are strapped for cash, the economic melt-down destroyed pension plans for teachers and left State programs for schools virtually dead. The only way we felt we could get them the funding required to do the job was to first eliminate the cost of electricity and then provide them with funding and easy-to-obtain grants based on our own corporate profits."

"I've been working with public schools and youth centers for a long time. That's where Terry and I met - working with kids in the Kids Computer Kamp (KCK) Free PCs for Kids program I started back in 1983." said Craig Mead, GPP Founder and Chairman. "The Free Power For Schools program wasn't just A Dream. I was an auditor for the utility industry and knew the money was there to do the job if we could simply convince cities that they could have their cake and eat it too by simply asking us to design their power, water and waste management systems. The result is real cash for real programs hosted by youth and family agencies and free electricity for public schools, allowing them to channel their revenue into student programs that make a difference in graduation rates and test scores."

Here's how the program works:

  1. Schools must be located in a city enrolled in our "Stable Power Prices For Cities" program. This step-by-step method allows cities to make that transition.

  2. Parents and Teachers form a Power Board that encourages Renewable Energy in their community.

  3. The Power Board passes out literature (like this page) to encourage citizens to attend meetings.

  4. Once well organized, the Power Board takes signatures on a petition to City Hall (or the County Seat).

  5. The City passes a resolution to enroll in the Gold Pact Power "Stable Power Pricing For Cities" program (SPPFC).

  6. A GPP Representative attends a City Counsel meeting and explains the SPPFC program.

  7. The City Counsel votes on the measure.

  8. Once enrolled, the GPP Team works with City Engineers (Building and Planning Department) to collect the KWH usage data for the community.

  9. Formal Plans are submitted to the City Building and Planning department and receive final confirmation through a vote by the City Counsel.

  10. The plan is funded and construction begins.

  11. It takes about 12 months to commission the first renewable energy generating station. At that time the cost of power for the schools is cut in half.

  12. WIthin 2 - 3 years the rest of the renewable energy generating stations are completed. At that time the cost of power for the schools drops to zero.

  13. From that time forward, the cost of power for the citizens of the city drops to 50 percent of the cost of conventional fuel genearting station power.

  14. While the plan is gradual, the results for schools, cities and the residents are felt right away: more funds for schools, grants for youth and family agencies, new Boys and Girls Clubs are built and a reduction in power costs for everyone.
